Can we talk; about fairness, justice and respect? Enloe administration doesn’t support industry standard wages, staffing or job security. Other north states hospitals out earn and benefit us; have security and a voice. You say; give us facts and figures, but the fact is, we don’t get fair standards like Red Bluff and Redding. St Elizabeths gets 100% health and dental coverage; not us! Enloe staff still lacks job security or a say in our future. Our hospital image is low, while employees provide quality care for patients and community. No wonder we voted for union protection from unfair out sourcing and lay offs, to boot.
Does Enloe leadership think it can treat staff this way without consequences? We need fair just treatment for all employees throughout our one and only Chico hospital. No living from pay checks to pay check for hard working staff. No more harassment for organizing coworkers or fear of lost jobs without input. Don’t ignore us. We have something to offer. We give our all every day. Administration needs to change by improving benefits, morale and image for a hospital staff that’s there for others, including administration. This administration can’t do it themselves. They need our help. It’s only right to treat employees who treat others, with respect and honesty. It’s been all so disappointing and must end. Justice and respect now for staff, patient and community; Enloe's that is.

Why work for industry standards at St. Es when you can do it for less at St Enloe?
Anonymous of 2/4/08 says why not work at "St Enloe" for less. After some thought, I think St E's workers might not want to commute to Chico for those low wages, even though shopping is undoubtedly better in Chico. Still, if they are willing to just that, I'd be willing to commute to Red Bluff to replace them and get some of those higher wages and free health insurance.
Why commute for them? We could wrap the low paying jobs up and send them to Red Bluff and they could send theirs back to Chico. But then we might not know what to do with a living wage at Enloe; it could go to employees' heads. Next we might want job security or full health coverage. That's to much to ask for. After all; this is Enloe in Chico not St. Elizabeths' in Red Bluff where administration respects employees as people not just warm bodies to follow orders. We could have a voice; not that we have anything to offer, or so management thinks. But I forget myself and my place.
Oy!
Anonymous of 2/5/08 9:51 PM, is that you? I mean, are you Anonymous of 2/4/08?
Anyway, you've got a good point there. You know, it's been so long since I've gotten a living wage. I remember I used to have some money left over after I paid my bills...I remember that! But what did I do with the leftovers? Hmmm, what...to...do...with the leftovers...hmmmm...Oh! I know! Our Senior Management works really hard, what with figuring out new and innovative ways to have US use OUR creativity to figure out new and innovative ways to scrape by...you know, from paycheck to paycheck, you know, by making us pay for our health insurance, by taking 10% of our PTO when we want to cash out, by giving us their "market survey/barely cost-of-living raise" of, what, 5% this year...HOLD ON!!! they didn't give us in the service unit ANYthing this year! Anyway, their hard work deserves a bonus, or something. I probably should give MY leftovers to Sr. Mgmt. If enough of us lowly and obviously unimportant employees put our leftovers together, maybe we could gather enough money to give Sr. Mgmt. yet ANOTHER 46% raise.
That's right my friend. Hay if we save all of our bonuses and the Christmas gift we all got from the CEO, and it was a good gesture by the way, we could buy our board of directors a common sense of humanity and justice toward the underlings; that's us you know. But then we aren't worthy of the Standards they get at St. Es. We have to do penance for our sin of need. Not that staff is in neeed of anything, what with the generous wages, full paid health, great staffing and the are they lend to our petty concerns for patient safety, not to mention safety in staffing itself. What woos es we are. We need to get a life, a safe one that is, to us occupied with better things. I hope the guys at St Es are happy! They got a good contract and all they had to was vote. Guess they'd appreciate it better if they'd had to wait a few years like us a St. Enloes. Now that we have the special dispensation from admin. we should be happy with what we have. What the hell; lets go for it and take those industry standards that they have up the road. Admin. did for themselves. How long sense we've had a 50% raise like those at the top, oh; that's right. We ain't never had a decent raise. Guess we aren't worthy of it. The Enloe way is to keep them down and in fear of change. People need to get over this fear and take what should be ours. Respect and a living wage. We do it for the patients you know. Hope admin. does to. What a blabber mouth I am.
Anonymous, speak for yourself! You may be afraid, but I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid.
Are you afraid of safe staffing and fair wages? What about patient safety not that this what our hospitals' mission should. Enloe administration is more interested in new buildings and equipment. Employees are the best equipment that this hospital has. We are the front line for our patients' needs. Our board of directors should remember that when the deny their staffs concerns, morale and its' public image. Enloe admin. need to remember their mission statement and core values. Be fair to those who care for others. Don't let fear of harassment stop you from standing up for coworkers and your self.
Would you travel to St Es for 2.50 to 3.00 dollars more an hour, industry standards? Would you travel across town for it, to Oxford Suites on 2-15-08 @ 10:00 that it. The choice is yours. We can't get these wages and benefits if we don't show support for each other. It won't get done with 13 people I.E. your bargaining. We will be proposing economic matter that will affect us for the duration of our first contract.
At 2.55 an hour lost wages I have footed the Enloe expansion to the tune or 4600$. No more money for building without industry standard staffing and wages. They have picked our pockets and now it's time to pay up and shut up. We are worth just as much as those at St. Es. Is our productivity inferior th theirs? Could we blame it on the Enloe way which is to underpay.
Dear Peter. Mother Enloe doesn't like it when you talk bad about her Good Kids in the administration! They didn't like it when you determindly kept at becoming a union. Now we ARE one...or are we? While you and the
few and the proud keep on trying for all of our benefit, not enough
people go to the meetings,or seem to stand behind you. I admire your
spunk and your firm belief in a strong Union. I still think that
mother Enloe will try to sqash the
thin thread we have on trying to cut the apron string and show that
we mean business. Unless others show up for the meetings and show
solidarity, we'll be back under her skirts in no time! Raises???
Why say yes when it will eventually go their way? It's their way or the highway...Or is it?
Thanks anonymous for your input. We are strong and we will get to where this union and its' members need to be. What's good is that our members have embarrassed the administration and board in the eyes of our patients, staff and community. People have a way of stepping forward in the clinch. So don't sell us short. We have to realize that there will be a contract no matter what we do. The difference is weather it will be a weak or strong contract. Hope to see you a bargaining Friday and bring some coworkers. Once people see what they will realize that it's a good thing; oops had Martha moment. We need the same consideration that our leaders give themselves and that the staff at St. Es. get from their administration. We are union!
there are lots of ex enloe employees that remember when we voted how wells fargo bank direct deposits were withheld saying they had changed a routing number which was a lie. there are lots of people in the community so fed up with enloe administration there was nothing more to do then turn enloe into cnn anderson cooper"keeping them honest". lets hope enloe is slammed on cnn the board & administration deserve it. lets hope its sooner rather then later. this community has a hospital with a board & administration that does not care. Debi Yancer is no better if she truly cared the employees would not have to fight for everything. remember enloe is a level 2 trauma center, not oroville, seneca, feather river or glenn general hospital. a real eye opener for this community on how well glenn general is doing since dumping enloe management. this community deserves better.
Anonynous; you are correct; Enloe admin. and board have done some unsavory things and deserve to be held accountable for the results. That is why we in the service dept. have the union and are bargaining for industry standards that will guarantee proper staffing, job security, fair wages and benefits, outsourcing as a last resort, no subcontracting and a voice so that concerns of patients, staff and community will not go unheard. I only hope that all this info to Anderson Cooper prompts him to do a piece on Enloe Hospital and how not to treat employees and their right to union and not to stall the legal results. Thanks for your input. Tell more about this blog and encourage them to come on and make comments.
